At The Weight Clinic, the Wegovy injection costs from £115 per month, with the exact price depending on your dose. The online consultation is free, and you only pay if a prescriber decides treatment is clinically appropriate and you choose to go ahead.

Below is the full, transparent price list for every Wegovy dose, an explanation of why the cost rises as you move up the titration schedule, and how the newer Wegovy Tablet compares on price.

Wegovy injection price per month (every dose)

Wegovy (semaglutide) is a once-weekly injection. You start on a low dose and step up gradually — this is called titration — so your body can adjust and side effects are kept to a minimum. Because each dose is priced separately, your monthly cost changes as you move through the schedule.

DoseStagePrice per month
0.25mgStarter (weeks 1–4)£115
0.5mgTitration£125
1mgTitration£135
1.7mgTitration£175
2.4mgStandard maintenance£230
7.2mgMaximum licensed dose£245

The cheapest starting price is £115 per month for the 0.25mg starter dose. Prices are fixed per dose — we never charge a figure between the ones listed above.

Why does the monthly cost change over time?

Wegovy is not a one-size-fits-all price because it is not a one-size-fits-all dose. Everyone begins on 0.25mg for the first four weeks, then moves up roughly every four weeks as tolerated, guided by your prescriber.

This gradual increase helps your stomach and appetite signals adjust, which reduces the chance of nausea and other common early side effects. As the dose increases, so does the monthly price, which is why many people spend their first couple of months at the lower price points before reaching a maintenance dose.

The standard maintenance dose is 2.4mg (£230/month). Some people are prescribed the higher 7.2mg dose (£245/month), which is the maximum licensed dose. Your prescriber decides the right dose for you — the goal is the lowest effective dose, not automatically the highest.

What are you actually paying for?

Your monthly cost at The Weight Clinic covers the genuine, MHRA-licensed medicine dispensed by our own GPhC-registered pharmacy, prescriber review, and tracked delivery. There are no separate consultation fees — the online eligibility check is free, and you only pay if treatment is prescribed and you decide to proceed.

Wegovy is a Prescription-Only Medicine. That means it is available only after a clinical consultation with a GPhC-registered prescriber who confirms it is safe and appropriate for you. A prescription is never guaranteed.

Is Wegovy available cheaper on the NHS?

Wegovy is available on the NHS in limited circumstances, usually through specialist weight-management services and subject to strict criteria and waiting lists. Availability varies across the UK and access can be restricted.

Buying privately through a regulated pharmacy like The Weight Clinic gives quicker access without a specialist referral, provided you meet the eligibility criteria and a prescriber agrees it is clinically appropriate. It is worth speaking to your GP about NHS options too, so you can weigh up what suits your situation.

How does Wegovy's cost compare to other options?

Wegovy is one of several weight-management treatments we offer. Here is how the starting prices compare across our licensed options.

Starting monthly price by treatment
TreatmentFormPrice from
Wegovy injectionOnce-weekly injection£115/month
Wegovy TabletOnce-daily tablet£115/month
MounjaroOnce-weekly injection£160/month

The Wegovy Tablet contains the same active medicine (semaglutide) as the injection but is taken as a once-daily tablet on an empty stomach. It starts at £115/month for the 1.5mg dose, rising to £190/month at the 25mg maintenance dose. It must be taken first thing with a small sip of plain water, then you wait at least 30 minutes before eating, drinking anything else, or taking other medicines — taken with food it is far less effective.

Mounjaro (tirzepatide) works on two gut-hormone receptors rather than one and follows a different price schedule from £160/month. You can compare all options on our treatments overview or the weight-loss injections page.

How well does Wegovy work?

In the STEP UP clinical trial, adults on the 7.2mg dose lost on average 20.7% of their body weight over 72 weeks, alongside lifestyle support. Individual results vary; not everyone reaches this.

Wegovy is a GLP-1 receptor agonist — it mimics a natural gut hormone that controls appetite, so you feel fuller sooner and for longer, and the stomach empties more slowly. It was the first MHRA-licensed GLP-1 specifically for weight management.

Who is Wegovy suitable for?

Wegovy may be an option if you are aged 18 or over and have a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI of 27–30 with a weight-related condition such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, or sleep apnoea.

It is not suitable if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding; have type 1 diabetes; a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN2; a history of pancreatitis; severe gastrointestinal disease; an active eating disorder; severe liver or kidney impairment; or a known allergy to the active ingredient.

Side effects to be aware of

The most common side effects (affecting more than 1 in 10 people) include nausea, diarrhoea, constipation, vomiting, decreased appetite, and fatigue. These are often strongest early on and tend to ease as your body adjusts — which is exactly why the dose is increased gradually.

Rare but serious side effects can include severe allergic reaction, acute pancreatitis, severe hypoglycaemia (particularly if combined with other diabetes medicines), and severe gastrointestinal disease. If you experience anything that concerns you, seek medical advice. You can report suspected side effects via the MHRA Yellow Card scheme at https://yellowcard.mhra.gov.uk/.
