In the UK, private weight loss injections start from £115 a month for the Wegovy injection (semaglutide) starter dose and £160 a month for Mounjaro (tirzepatide). What you actually pay depends on the medicine and the dose you reach, so costs usually rise as you move through the titration schedule.
Below is a clear, up-to-date breakdown of what each licensed injectable costs by dose, what drives the price, and how to avoid paying for unlicensed products. All prices here are for a one-month supply and the online consultation itself is free.
Weight loss injection prices at a glance
The two MHRA-licensed weekly injections we supply are Mounjaro (tirzepatide) and the Wegovy injection (semaglutide). Both are started at a low dose and increased gradually, so your monthly cost changes over time.
Mounjaro (tirzepatide) price by dose
| Dose | Price per month |
|---|---|
| 2.5mg (starter) | £160 |
| 5mg | £185 |
| 7.5mg | £240 |
| 10mg | £260 |
| 12.5mg | £275 |
| 15mg (maximum) | £295 |
Mounjaro activates two gut-hormone receptors — GLP-1 and GIP — at the same time. You can read more on the Mounjaro page.
Wegovy injection (semaglutide) price by dose
| Dose | Price per month |
|---|---|
| 0.25mg (starter) | £115 |
| 0.5mg | £125 |
| 1mg | £135 |
| 1.7mg | £175 |
| 2.4mg | £230 |
| 7.2mg (maximum) | £245 |
Wegovy is a GLP-1 receptor agonist — it mimics a natural gut hormone that controls appetite, so you feel fuller sooner and for longer. See the Wegovy injection page for the full detail.
Why the price goes up as you progress
Both medicines follow a step-by-step titration. You begin on a low starter dose to let your body adjust and to reduce side effects, then your prescriber increases the dose in stages if it is appropriate for you.
Higher doses contain more active medicine, which is why a month on the maximum dose costs more than a month on the starter dose. Not everyone needs or reaches the top dose — the right dose is the lowest one that works well for you.
Because of this, it is more useful to think about your cost over a year than from a single starter price. Your monthly figure will typically sit somewhere in the middle of the ranges above once you settle on a maintenance dose.

Injection vs tablet: does form change the cost?
If you would prefer not to inject, there is now a once-daily oral option. The Wegovy Tablet contains the same active medicine as the Wegovy injection and starts from £115 a month, rising to £190 for the 25mg maintenance dose.
The Wegovy Tablet must be taken first thing on an empty stomach with a small sip of plain water, then you wait at least 30 minutes before eating, drinking anything else, or taking other medicines — taken with food it is far less effective.
You can compare all the options on our treatments overview or the combined weight loss injections page.
What results can you expect for the money?
Clinical trial results give a sense of the potential, though they are not a promise of what any individual will achieve.
- Mounjaro: In the SURMOUNT-1 trial, participants on the 15mg dose lost on average 22.5% of body weight over 72 weeks, alongside lifestyle support. Individual results vary; not everyone reaches this.
- Wegovy injection: In the STEP UP clinical trial, adults on the 7.2mg dose lost on average 20.7% of their body weight over 72 weeks, alongside lifestyle support. Individual results vary; not everyone reaches this.
These medicines work best combined with changes to diet and activity, and they are prescription-only — they do not cure obesity.
Side effects to factor in
Both are from the same GLP-1 medicine class. The most common side effects (affecting more than 1 in 10 people) are nausea, diarrhoea, constipation, vomiting, decreased appetite and fatigue. These are often mild and tend to ease as your body adjusts.
Rare but serious effects can include severe allergic reaction, acute pancreatitis, severe hypoglycaemia, severe gastrointestinal disease, and worsening diabetic retinopathy. If you experience side effects, you can report them via the MHRA Yellow Card scheme at https://yellowcard.mhra.gov.uk/.
Avoiding false economy: price vs safety
A very low price from an unfamiliar overseas or "grey-market" seller is a warning sign, not a bargain. Unlicensed products carry real risks and no proper clinical oversight.
A legitimate UK service dispenses only genuine, MHRA-licensed medicines through a GPhC-registered pharmacy, with a prescriber reviewing your suitability. You can verify any UK pharmacy on the General Pharmaceutical Council register at pharmacyregulation.org — The Weight Clinic's medicines are dispensed by North Harrow Pharmacy (GPhC 1034996). Are you eligible?
Weight loss injections are generally considered for adults aged 18+ with a BMI of 30 or more, or a BMI of 27–30 alongside a weight-related condition such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure or sleep apnoea.
They are not suitable for everyone — including during pregnancy, breastfeeding or when planning pregnancy, in type 1 diabetes, or with a history of pancreatitis, among other conditions. A prescriber will check this during your free consultation.
